Summer Thrifting Adventures: Sun Tea and Cynthia Rowley

We have a routine.

Friday nights, my brother goes to get a haircut. Instead of waiting in the shop, I take a stroll down the street to the conveniently located Salvation Army.

At this point, it's guaranteed that I won't leave empty-handed. And I'm ok with that, given the prices have not risen to the price and trend-conscious levels of Value Village (I'll delve more into that another day).

At this point, given my attempts to be slightly more budget conscious, my hauls have become much more miniature as of late. But I guess that's just a part of growing up. Also my closet unfortunately does not expand at the same rate my wardrobe does, so we're dealing with some space constraints.

This trip I walked away with two things:

Versace-inspired Skirt ($4.99)

Cynthia Rowley Printed Skinny Leg Pants ($4.99)

Post-shopping spree I was a bit parched and decided forgo a trip to Starbucks for Passion Tea Lemonade  in favour of the student budget-friendly homemade option. I give full credit for this recipe to my co-worker, but nonetheless it's pretty difficult to screw up.

Summer Sun Tea

Ingredients:
-1 tea bag of your choice (I used Orange Pekoe)
-Sugar or honey to taste (I'm all about the brown sugar)
-A sprig of fresh mint
-A dash of lemon juice
-A bottle or jar, preferably with a closed lid

Preparation:
Add tea bag to drinking apparatus with your desired amount of sweetener. Break mint leaves apart and add to the cup, incorporate with sweetener to infuse flavour (also known as 'muddling' in the bartender world). Add enough water to fill the glass, and then place it in an area with direct sun. I put mine on the balcony, but you can leave it inside if you like.
The more time you leave the flavours to meld the better, but it's all a matter of personal preference. Which kind of makes a recipe slightly pointless, so just think of this as a general guidance document. That's pretty much how I view all recipes anyways. Which has resulted in many disasters, but also quite a few successes. But I digress, as usual.
